Island Routine MAY 2025
Core 2 Typography
Editorial  / Typography

Island Routine — A Journal About Formosa is a typographic exploration of daily life in Taiwan, blending personal observation with visual rhythm. The book captures fragments of ordinary routines such as sounds, objects, meals, and everyday moments that quietly define the island’s identity. By focusing on the familiar rather than the monumental, the project treats daily life as an archive of cultural experience.

Through careful use of typography, image placement, and pacing, the book translates the pulse of Formosa into a visual journal that feels both intimate and collective. Layout and sequencing mirror repetition and flow, allowing readers to move through the book in a way that echoes the routine itself. The design emphasizes structure and rhythm, reflecting how habits shape perception over time.

At its core, the project examines how everyday practices carry memory and emotional weight. Island Routine positions routine as a bridge between personal experience and shared culture, revealing how small, repeated actions form a lasting connection to place.
